What to expect in your pelvic health physiotherapy appointment?
- Comprehensive history taking – This is to understand your unique story and concerns. It is important to gain a good history to best tailor the treatment to be the most effective as possible. This generally includes some personal questions however the more information that is provided, the more specific and tailored your treatment will be.
- Physical assessment – As with any physiotherapy appointment, it is important to assess the area we are treating. This typically involves and internal vaginal examination, which is a highly effective diagnostic method. If you do not wish to undertake an internal examination, this is completely ok – we have other assessment methods available such as diagnostic ultrasound.
- Education / Planning – Following the assessment, your pelvic health physiotherapist will discuss with you the findings of the assessment and provide you with a comprehensive understanding or your condition. We will then develop a personalised treatment plan together to treat/manage your symptoms. This education and plan will be based on the most up to date research available.
